So this is my first post from Austria. The first few days were rough. Everyone was really jet lagged, and our first night here was pretty boring. I was lost in the airport for a while because there was suppose to be a sign for the Salzburg College at the “Meeting Place,” but there wasn’t. I thought I found the right spot, and spotted people who looked like Americans, but I wasn’t sure, so I sat by myself for a while. A few of them came up to me and asked if I was with the program, and we all congregated together until the bus came.
The ride to Salzburg from Munich was interesting because we started on the highway, but quickly diverted onto some country roads. We had to pass through SOOOooo many small little towns. I didn’t want to sleep, but fell asleep eventually.
The program dropped us off at the hotel without so much as a word as to how to do anything, other than take the #3 bus to the Theatregrasse. Great. The first two days were really drudging, as we had many orientations and tours of the city; meetings for lessons and such.
Yesterday (Wednesday) was the first day that we actually had sun! It was georgous!!!! Of course, I was an idiot and wrote down that my coaching was at 10, when it was really at 9. :-( Sad panda. People make mistakes, especially the first week.
After lunch, Erika, other Eric, and I decided to sit on the banks of the Salz River and do our German homework. It was pleasant, but I’m sure everyone was secretly laughing at the dumb Americans.
Place of the Post: every Gelato shop in Salzburg. Now I don’t exactly understand if its because Salzburg is very touristy, or because they just really enjoy gelato, but there are gelato shops on almost every corner here!
Phrase of the Post: bitte. As in, pass the peas, bitte.
