whoops

Yep, the combination of time and my extreme lack of internet connectivity has led to my lack of posting last week. Not that much has changed since then. I'm still in Cedar Rapids. Last week was intense: we had double-duty rehearsals for both Into the Woods and dress rehearsals for Elixir. The performance was Friday and Sunday. Both went off without a hitch. There was a cast party on Friday at Gringos, just across the street from the theatre, and it was amazingly. Afterwards, we went swimming in Meredith's pool. It was just a preview of her birthday party this week.

On Sunday, my parents drove to Cedar Rapids as well to see the show. It was great to see a familiar face in a normally relatively unfamiliar crowd. The great thing about having your parents in town to visit is that they always take you out to dinner. I'm pretty sure that is the best thing you can do for a college student: take them to dinner! We parted ways afterwards and went to another cast party held by my host family, the Rileys. It was so nice out too, so it was a nice change of pace just sit out on the patio and not have to think about anything but conversing with my fellow castmates. I was sad to see the people go who I probably would not see again, mainly Adam and the principles.

All this week is rehearsals from 12-6. Today was a lot of painstaking blocking for the end of Act I. It took forever, but we seemed to have accomplished a lot. More blocking tomorrow I'm sure.

So the opera company got us free tickets to this "Freedom Fest" event happening in Cedar Rapids starting this week. It appears to be some sort of multi-week event with multitudes of things to do, including a BBQ event at the convention center and other things I've yet to discover. That should be a nice break from sitting in rehearsal! Also this week is Meredith's "Giga-birthday-pool-party" on Thursday. I love swimming, especially at her gorgeous pool.

For all you tech geeks out there, I am excited to announced I'm officially getting a new laptop. In a previous post, I had talked of getting a Macbook, but recently decided that I need (and I emphasize "need" HA!) a Macbook Pro. And since I'll be getting two rebates, a student discount, and a free iPod which I intend on re-selling, I can't say no. So if you really want to make my day, find me when I get back and ask how my new Macbook Pro is! :-P Yea, I'm a nerd.

Place of the Post-Cedar Rapids: Freedomfest 2007. I've yet to exactly figure out what it is....but it looks to be great fun. And if nothing else, it's something to do in Cedar Rapids. And who doesn't absolutely drool at the words "summer" and "BBQ" used in the same sentence?

And in a new segment I'm adding when I find an appropriate one, Quotable Quotations:

Jenna: It's too bad show choir can't have sex appeal.
Eric: I think it's called Las Vegas...
