shazam.

At this point in the year, I go into this crazy ADD mode of "OMG! I have 100000 things going on right now!!!" and my mind frantically tries to organize and remember it all.Consequently, my thoughts become a random mix of jib-jabing and various thoughts that stream across my consciousness. So here we go:

1. So I’m choreographing the dance audition for my show choir right now, and in dance class on Tuesday, we learned how to do a (sounds like, but not necessarily spelled like) PK slice. I really like the form of the motion and think I want to use it in the audition. BUT, can a high schooler with little or no dance talent even really do a move like that?

2. I got my contract for Cedar Rapids opera on Monday. Yikes, I had to go get my headshots copied today for it. It’s like pulling teeth trying to get them! Everyone says, “that’s copyrighted, you can’t use it.” Um, no. There’s no watermark or signature from the photographer because I PAID for the rights to use the photo and copy it myself. Seriously, people need to get a clue. I understand they’re trying to follow legal procedure, but they really need to use common sense too. Ugh, I finally got them done at Target after the “do-it-yourself” Kodak machine at Valley West was broken and I had to go to Merle Hay.

3. I realized today that I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life but singing and dancing or teaching it. My REAL problem comes to: do I teach or perform? Yikes! And I only have a very few previous months left before I have to decide and I’m going to make some decisions in one or the other direction soon. Blah on life.

4. If I make it through this and next week, I deserve some sort of prize. I have countless hours of Brahms rehearsal then the performance of the Brahms Requiem, THEN more countless hours of opera rehearsal and opening the show next week. Get excited/exhausted. I’ll manage though…..I mean, Relays is the week after!!!!! The best week of the entire year. Yes sir folks.

Place of the Post: Iowa wineries. I saw at Ingersoll Liquors the other day that there is a winery in Indianola, IA of all places. They even offer all weekend packages where you go on tours, have meals, relax, and drink wine! So next time you reach for that California Chardonnay or real Champagne, try looking for one that was made here in our great state of IOWA.

I thought since I talked about myself being in theatre, I'd showcase a few productions I've been in:

This one is from Pirates of Penzance, performed by Drake Opera, April 2006

Next is from Hello Dolly!, performed by Bellevue West Theatre, April 2004 (I'm in the back with Emerengarde (sp?))

Last, but not least, is a picture from The Boyfriend, performed by Drake Theatre, November 2006
