road runner

My initial thought was that last week was going to be decent and I would be able to cruise for a little bit after spring break. Wow, was I sorely mistaken. Opera rehearsals have been kicking into high gear, as well as a theory exam and project that were plopped in my lap as well. Not to mention I had a coaching with a Drake alum who is a vocal coach who does work all over the nation and a Masterclass with Katharine Goeldner, a mezzo-soprano who has also sung all over the world, including the Met in NYC. She was really down to earth and is from Iowa. I was really happy that I got to sing for her. It’s really a privilege and an honor, especially for someone who is that well traveled.

This week is not looking any better folks. Theory exam Tuesday, Andrew’s 21st on Monday, Theory project Thursday, and I’m sure 1000 little fires to put out throughout the week. The next few weekends don’t look good either. This weekend, I’m free, but have to spend it prepping for the rest of the semester. Weekend after that is Brahms’s rehearsal and concert, then opera the weekend after, then Relays, then dead day/weekend, and FINALS! Yikes. And of course after that, I’m off two weeks, and then to Cedar Rapids for me for the Young Artist program at Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre.

So if you read this, don't be surprised if I'm a little scatter-brained for the next many weeks!

Place of the Post: Drake Diner. Apparently modeled after some famous diner, this one is right in the middle of Drake-land (my name for the Drake area). It has an eclectic mix of things on the menu, so you'll never run out of things to try.
