And when I update during the week, I tend to have nothing to talk about because all I do is go to class and do homework. The weekend is really where it’s at. (All I have chiming in my head is, “Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend!”) Which is partly true as a college student because it breaks up the mundane habit of going to class.
Anywho, last week was no less different from all the rest. I had a theory project due Tuesday, then just prayed that the weekend came sooner. HA! This weekend was exciting though. I had the last show choir competition of the season at Waukee High School. Valley took 4th place and I was extremely proud of them. They made it to night finals at every competition they went to this year and improved, from 6th, to 5th, to 4th. I was sad to see the seniors perform for the last time, but I wish them well as they graduate and a new bunch of kids join the fray. Of course being me, I already have ideas swirling around in my head about what to do next year! I’m such a teacher.
My parents were also in town this weekend to see the show choir competition and then see me perform at the Botanical Center for opera today. It was not the best space to sing in ever, but there were more people than I anticipated. Afterwards, we went to shopping at Jordan Creek Mall and ended a very nice day with dinner at Centro. It was only my second time, and my parents had never been there. They left and I went to Steve and Andrew’s recital and then more work/laziness for the evening.
This week is going to be torture for me. I don’t have any major projects due, but with the warm weather and spring break just the week after next, the apathy level will be at critical. If you see me around, I probably won’t be doing anything of significance or importance. It’s just going to be one of those weeks.
Place of the Post: Thai Flavors! Located at E 14th and University Ave, it’s a great little locally-run Thai restaurant. Very authentic, and affordable. And you can choose from 1-5 stars how hot the dish is. When I went with my friend Linda, she choose 2 stars, and I choose 3. It was a little ambitious of me. It wasn’t the hottest I’ve EVER had, but a little too hot to be eating a whole plate full!
P.S. The picture is from today at the botanical center.... Me = Dr. Falke
