So today is a long, 7 hour tech rehearsal for Magic Flute. So I get to sit in the theatre and watch everyone rehearse since the chorus is in very little of the actual opera. But the set is really awesome, with lots of video projections as backdrops, etc. Pretty sweet. Not much else to report in Cedar Rapids. It is as I have previously described it. I'm out of here in one week though. Muhaha.
Is it bad that I kinda want school to start? I'll have a regular, easy schedule (only 3 academic classes, one of them fluff), work in Admissions 20 hours a week (and minimum wage went up, so hopefully I'm getting a raise too!), and I'll get to resume my social life as I previously knew it before break.
Not much coming down the pipe it seems. Tomorrow starts our performances of The Night Harry Stopped Smoking, 10 in all within the next 6 days. Then dress rehearsal the next 3 days for Magic Flute, a dead day, and then performances Fri and Sun.
I watched the New Hampshire debates last night....pretty good in my opinion. It was interesting to see they were hosted partly by Facebook, my ever-so addicting time waster.
Alright, more later. I should probably be paying attention to what is going on onstage or something.
Place of the Post-Cedar Rapids: Theatre Cedar Rapids. An odd, early 20th century theatre. Way too small, and not very modernized, with wires, and cords running everywhere with a transparent sound cloud and speakers adorning the top of the proscenium. It's sufficient I suppose, for Cedar Rapids at least. I much prefer either the Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines or for that matter, the Orpheum (my favorite) or Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha.
