The name of the new book I'm reading is called, "The World is Flat." I just started it last night and is an interesting read on world economics and America. Pick it up if you get a chance
Having a 3-day weekend only makes getting the week started all that much more painful. I mean, you have an extra day, but that Tuesday (Monday-like) morning is all that much more dreaded. ANYWAY, I survived it regardless. I think.
Let's talk about the weekend and what I did. Now, let's see. Friday afternoon was my fabulous life in Admissions, then I went to the Men's Soccer game with Rachel. I remember why I don't attend sporting events all that much. I dunno. I'm just not a huge sports fan. Call me un-American if you will. Afterwards was a plethora of Back-to-School get-togethers of which I attended 3-4 and ended the evening pretty late. Saturday consisted mostly of sitting around, doing laundry, and cleaning my apartment. Oh, correction. Rachel and I went to study at the Starbucks on Locust, then went and walked around the East Village. I unfortunately had to be a Crave-slave at 6:30, only to find out that my manager had told me that I was suppose to work the wedding party, and it had been given to someone else. I was pissed. Not to mention I had crappy tables. Needless to say, I went home to be a debbie downer and go to sleep early.
Sunday. Hmmm....all these days are blurring together. Rachel and I ventured to Saylorville Lake, studied, and then back to Drake-land. We made dinner (grilled shrimp and veggies) and then went to Snookies (!!) and watched Blades of Glory. It was an alright movie, but not my favorite of Will's. I did enjoy Amy Poehler though. She cracks me up. Monday consisted of sleeping in, going to the gym, studying, and then hanging out with my fraternity son Nick before a meeting at 7.
Anyway, enough talking about me. Well, sorta. Here is a little challenge for all you readers. I've been in Iowa all summer, and without even trying, have met 4 of the presidential candidates: John, Hillary, Barack, and Bill Richardson (who I weirdly bumped into at a bar in Mason City. :-/ ). The point is....I want people to comment and tell me if they're met a political figure, who it was, and the context. The best one gets a prize of which I've yet to determind. (I'm thinking a Drake T-shirt right now, but not sure yet). So comment away. It's better than doing ACT/SAT prep anyway. Really, it is.
Place of the Post: Smash. It's a T-shirt shop in the East Village. Their screen-printed T's are really funny. And most of the have to do with Iowa, such as, "Iowa 2008: Rock out with your caucus out." too funny.
