Rain, Rain, Go Away...

So I didn't have internet this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, due to all the rain/snow, etc. It was an interesting experience. I don't remember that last time I had been without it. Just goes to show you how dependent we are on technology and the internet. My friend and his roommate Aly didn't have power, so they came and stayed Saturday night.

Last weekend was one big recruitment sha-bang. I did a ton of work for the Music Dept Audition day on Friday and then helped do things for the National Alumni Scholarship day on Saturday. It was all good. I suppose I wouldn't be a Student Ambasador if I didn't like giving tours and talking about Drake, right? The free lunch on Saturday was especially nice. Sodexho really put out the red carpet, and I had good food and good conversation with the people at my table. I'm not sure if it's in a college student's nature to deny free food. Hmmm....someone should research that.

Saturday afternoon, I went to Lynell's junior recital. She looked spectactular in her pinkish-red satin dress. I chatted with her and Sara's folks who were in town for the benefit concert, then I had to zip off to Crave. Yikes, Crave was SO crazy, not people-wise, just getting there and back. I made ok money, but getting back was like navigating through a nuclear winter aftermath. There were cars on the side of the street everywhere, and it took me almost 40 minutes to get from West Glen back to my apartment. Blah.

Sunday was all about getting work done and ready for the week. I'm not sure how much I actually accomplished that, but at least I got some laundry done! This week has just been really busy trying to get everything done. I seriously don't know where all this work comes from, but it seems to magically appear! Today isn't so bad, I had class at 9:30, and then at 1. Then sit through studio, and opera rehearsal, and I'm home free.

We look like we're going to have more snow/rain/nastyness tonight and pretty much throughout the rest of the week. Blah. I'm going to Minneapolis-area this weekend for show choir. I really hope that we'll be able to make it there. :-/

Place of the Post: Valley Junction. From what I can tell, it had something to do with a railroad at some point? I'm not sure. at all. Anyway, it's like the old, downtown part of West Des Moines. They have lots of shops, restaurants, and such things. My favorite thing is the Theatrical Shop. Maybe because I'm just easily amused. I'm not sure....either way.....check it out.

P.S. the picture is of Natalie and I outside this creepers van we saw downtown last weekend. It looked like something out of a horror movie, so I posed like I was abducting Natalie. It turned out better than I thought! Haha, yea...we're weird.
